1997-1998: Gina Buhl

Gina Buhl

Gina Buhl studied voice with Jan Shapiro for four years starting at age twelve. Jan Shapiro is currently the voice department chair at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. Gina received a music scholarship to attend Daytona Beach Community College, where she completed a few music courses. She later transferred to an aeronautical university in Florida.

Gina continued to study voice and performed in musicals such as Grease, Oliver, Man of La Mancha and Brigadoon. She started her own band and became a songwriter. Her musical taste is diverse and is influenced by great artists such as Billie Holiday, Sara McLachlan and The Beatles.

Gina has a very successful career as a commercial airline pilot. She started taking flying lessons in high school she has a degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, where she is currently a faculty member. In 1997, she was hired by Alaska Airlines. Gina is currently attending ground school, in preparation to fly the Boeing 737.
